Workout Regimen: I teach a total of seven fitness classes Monday through Thursday, all of which have a cardio section, a strength section and a stretching section. Monday and Tuesday, I teach a total of seven dance classes: Tap, Jazz and Adult Tap. Additionally, I ride a stationary bike one to two times per week  and walk in my neighborhood or on the treadmill two to four times per week. I also stretch every night.

  • Favorite Exercise: I love to take long walks and pray. I also love doing exercises with the ball and putting on great music and just dancing.
  • Hobbies: I love creative projects and crafting. I enjoy gardening and adult coloring books. I have been involved in the Texas Association Teachers of Dancing (TATD) for 35 plus years. I feel like my gift from God is to share my joy and love for dancing, exercise and great music with young and old so that they too will find joy in those things and continue to keep it in their lives.
  • Wellness Philosophy: Keep moving and never stop. Keep your mind and body young and active. I try to live by the quote, “Wherever you go, no matter the weather, always bring your own sunshine.”
  • Favorite Snack: Apples, peanut butter and Ghirardelli dark chocolate chips. Homemade guacamole and chips are also a favorite.
  • Must-Have Wardrobe Staple: Comfortable shoes!
  • Guilty Pleasure: Watching Days of Our Lives. I started watching it with my grandmother when I was a little girl.
  • To Diet or Not to Diet? Not to diet. I believe in everything in moderation and portion control. However, I rarely eat fried foods, can’t remember the last time I had a soda and try to stay away from super fatty or sugary foods. I eat blueberries almost every day and eat my veggies. And, I eat dark chocolate everyday, drink lots of water and enjoy wine!
  • What Being a “Beautiful Woman” Means: Being confident, yet humble. Letting your inner beauty and joy show through your smile and your actions. Being kind and compassionate, yet strong and independent.
  • Favorite Way to Recharge: Have a massage and sit on my swing outside.
  • Inspiration: My mom. She is 85, and she still teaches dancing. She performs and choreographs, and she sings in a church choir. She never gives up. She is sweet and caring to everyone.
  • Advice: Trust in God, always be yourself, keep a positive attitude in everything, smile, be kind, work hard and play hard.
