Has it been a year since we embarked on this new journey for

absolutely! fit & fab to bring fun, fitness and healthy living articles to the fabulous women of Fort Bend County?  It has been so rewarding to be a part of this amazing new venture, and we have received such rave reviews.  In fact, we have had such an overwhelmingly positive response that absolutely! fit & fab is growing in 2018.  Thanks to your support, we are increasing to six issues per year, so you can enjoy more of what you love in this female evolution and revolution!

We hosted our first Girls Getting Fabulous event at Whole Foods Market Sugar Land, and despite the torrential rain, many fabulous women came out and made new friends while enjoying great food, beverages and free giveaways.  Look for more fabulous events in 2018.

In this issue, we highlight Mistie Porter as a Fabulous Fifty. I have known Mistie for over twelve years, and she is such a bright and joyful person who gives back enhancing lives daily through the arts and fitness.

Something near and dear to all women is our health.  How can we give the most to those we love unless we seek our own wellness?  We want and depend on a trusted physician to address the many issues that we face as women.  Sugar Land OB/GYN Associates, our cover story, is a supreme organization of physicians who have been serving the women of Fort Bend County for years.  They are knowledgeable and caring, and the doctors and staff create a welcoming environment with their positive and energetic personalities.

I have lived in Fort Bend County for 27 years, and from the beginning, I felt the intimate small town feel with metropolitan amenities.  The events of Hurricane Harvey are still recent and close to our hearts.  I want to celebrate the resilient and caring community in which we live – people helping people and pets out of rising water and offering assistance and shelter.  Not just the government entities, who have done a wonderful job in planning, communicating and executing to serve our citizens, but to the every day people who reach out, open their homes, volunteer and ask how their neighbors are doing – that reinforces why I am proud to call Fort Bend home.

As we approach the holidays, let’s be thankful that we live in a diverse county of people – people who come from all over the world and have joined together to become community.  Enjoy your families and friends and the many festivities.  As you do, consider the 20 Helpful Tips to Staying Healthy During the Holidays so you can enjoy them and enter the New Year on a positive note.

Absolutely! yours,
