Step into Spring!

Each new year brings new adventures and opportunities.  It is such a joy to see your adult children branching out.  Two of my girls announced huge news for Spring.  Karla, who has a 20-month-old, constantly active boy named Benjamin, is pregnant with a second boy, so our family is growing!  I am also excited to share that my daughter, Alison Whitehurst, has joined the National Tour of Beautiful, The Carole King Musical.  I am looking forward to seeing this amazing production as it travels, singing and dancing, through select US cities.

As we move into Spring in Fort Bend County, I look back and celebrate that we had some weather that can traditionally be considered winter.  Many years there is just a flash of cool, and it is gone.  This year, we had snow – twice.  Amazingly beautiful!  Now we look forward to budding flowers and sunny, pleasant weather where we can spend more time outdoors.

With the Spring weather comes the BP MS 150, the largest fundraising bike race of its kind from Houston to Austin.  We share a story of local mom, Holly Kaminga, and her daughter, Erica, as they commit, train and prepare to ride together in this challenging ride on April 28th and 29th to raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis.  Keeping with our cardio awareness for Spring, read about Cycling 101 and Cardio Training Tips so you can learn more and expand your cardio options so you stay on track with the goals you set in January.

In this issue, we introduce Veronica Williams, who is the epitome of Sassy Sixties. Her light shines as she spreads warmth wherever she goes.  A twirler in high school and for many years, she continues to stay active through regular dance exercise and group fitness classes.

We continue to celebrate healthy living for our fabulous women in our special section Relax, Rejuvenate, Refresh.  And, in Trends to Try, I highlight several options to enhance and support your healthy lifestyle as you continue to balance your busy schedule for yourself and your family.

Step into Spring with a renewed energy and excitement for life.

Absolutely! yours,
